About

From the author

Classical music was once immensely popular, but has since fallen out of fashion, especially with young people. However, basic knowledge of popular jargon and classical composers will not only help you make intelligent conversation during cocktail parties, but also open the doors to more options for outings on Friday nights. Being only a recent masters graduate myself, I won't pretend to have the depth of knowledge associated with true connoisseurs of the art. I only want to share with readers the tip of the iceberg, so that if you have never enjoyed classical music, maybe you will find one or two pieces to love and relate to.

Why Classical Music?

Compared to other genres of mainstream music, classical music is more of an acquired taste requiring a certain level of sophistication and knowledge before it can become truly enjoyable. Music is rarely created 100% original and unique, and the majority of melodies and themes are inspired by classical music. But once you familiarize yourself with some of the most famous pieces, you will find that it helps broadens your enjoyment of all other types of music as well.

This blog will not only post links to the music online, but also provide some context and history to the composer and piece itself so that it may be more enjoyable to the listener.
